1100 H22 Aluminum
The characteristics of 1100 H22 aluminum alloy are high machinability, medium strength, and excellent corrosion resistance. It is suitable for applications that do not require extremely high strength but need good corrosion resistance, such as heat exchangers, signage, and decorative parts. Its unique H22 temper allows the alloy to balance strength and formability to some extent, making it a well-rounded aluminum material.
1100 H22 Aluminum Alloy Composition
1100 aluminum alloy is an alloy of aluminum with small amounts of other elements, such as copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon, and iron. The main component is pure aluminum (with an aluminum content of more than 99%). It belongs to the pure aluminum type in the aluminum alloy series, which has high electrical and thermal conductivity but relatively low strength. The exact chemical composition may vary depending on the standard, but the typical 1100 aluminum alloy contains no less than 99% aluminum.

H22 Temper 1100 Aluminum
1100 H22 aluminum is a special heat treatment temper of 1100 aluminum alloy. The alloy undergoes a two-step process: first, it is cold-worked (strain-hardened) to increase its strength, then partially annealed (softened) to provide good machinability and a certain level of strength.
- Strain Hardening: During cold processing, the aluminum alloy's strength increases, but excessive hardening may cause brittleness.
- Partial Annealing: By annealing the aluminum alloy at low temperatures, part of its plasticity is restored, hardness is reduced, and machinability is improved.
Mechanical Properties: The strength of 1100 H22 aluminum lies between the annealed (O) and full-hard (H28) states. Its hardness and strength are about a quarter of those in these two states, making it suitable for applications requiring moderate strength and a certain degree of formability.
- Tensile Strength: Typically around 120-170 MPa.
- Yield Strength: Around 45-70 MPa.
- Elongation: Typically 12-20%, indicating good formability.
Corrosion Resistance: Due to the high purity of 1100 aluminum, it has excellent corrosion resistance. Whether in marine or industrial environments, 1100 aluminum shows very good oxidation resistance, making it especially suitable for applications exposed to moist or corrosive media (such as saltwater, acid rain, etc.).
1100 H22 Aluminum Material Properties
Strength
1100 H22 aluminum has medium strength, lying between the annealed (O) and full-hard (H28) states, about a quarter of their strength. This makes it highly practical for applications requiring a certain strength without being too rigid, suitable for forming and processing.
Corrosion Resistance
This aluminum alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, able to resist oxidation and corrosion in a variety of environments, making it ideal for outdoor and humid applications.
Machinability
1100 H22 aluminum has excellent machinability, easy to process with various techniques such as stamping, bending, and welding. This flexibility makes it ideal for manufacturing processes, able to meet different design requirements.
1100 H22 Aluminum Processing Performance
1100 H22 aluminum alloy has excellent processing properties, suitable for various traditional methods like cold forming, milling, stamping, and deep drawing. The partial annealing process allows the alloy to maintain proper strength while retaining good machinability, making it outstanding for applications requiring shaping and forming.
1100 H22 Aluminum Applications
Due to its medium strength and excellent corrosion resistance, 1100 H22 aluminum is widely used in fields that do not require very high strength but need good machinability and corrosion resistance.
