1050 H12 Aluminum

1050-H12 aluminum alloy is a type of 1050 series aluminum alloy, in which the aluminum content exceeds 99.5%, making it highly pure. The main characteristics of the 1050 series aluminum alloy are its excellent formability, good weldability, and corrosion resistance, making it especially suitable for applications that require high corrosion resistance and good formability.

1050-H12 aluminum is the 1050 aluminum in the H12 condition. To achieve this state, the metal undergoes strain hardening, and its strength is approximately one-quarter of the difference between the annealed (O) and fully hardened (H18) states.

1050 H12 Aluminum Alloy

The H12 condition indicates that the aluminum alloy has undergone a certain degree of cold-working hardening, but it is less hardened than the H18 state. Specifically, the H12 state is lightly cold-worked, with strength between the annealed (O) state and fully hardened (H18) state.

Through appropriate cold working, the strength of the aluminum alloy is increased. During the strain-hardening process, the metal’s crystal lattice deforms, increasing its tensile strength.

1050 H12 Aluminum Features

Medium Strength

In the H12 condition, the aluminum alloy has moderate strength, typically harder than the annealed 1050 aluminum but softer than the fully hardened H18 state. Its strength is approximately one-quarter of the difference between the annealed and fully hardened states, making it suitable for light-load structural components.

The specific tensile strength and yield strength vary depending on the processing method and surface treatment, typically ranging from 70-110 MPa.

Good Workability

1050 H12 aluminum retains the excellent workability of the 1050 series, making it easy to form through various processes such as bending, stamping, and stretching.

It is particularly suitable for manufacturing various non-load-bearing or lightly load-bearing parts with complex shapes.

Good Weldability

Due to the high purity of the alloy, 1050 H12 aluminum has good welding performance and is suitable for welding methods such as TIG and MIG welding.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The corrosion resistance of 1050 aluminum is very strong, making it ideal for applications exposed to humid, salt spray, or chemically corrosive environments. Its surface is less likely to oxidize or corrode and usually does not require additional corrosion protection.

Good Thermal Conductivity

As a pure aluminum alloy, 1050 H12 aluminum has high thermal conductivity, making it suitable for applications requiring good heat dissipation, such as heat exchangers and radiators.
