Aluminum foil is made by rolling electrolytic aluminum or aluminum alloy sheets with a purity of 99.3% to 99.9%, and its thickness is generally below 0.20mm. Due to the different degrees of heat treatment after rolling, aluminum foil can be divided into soft and hard types.

Because aluminum foil has a series of good properties, its application range is very wide. From a large range, it is mainly used in three major fields, namely packaging, electrical and construction, among which packaging has the largest demand.

  • (1) The thickness of air conditioner foil is thinner; as the forming method of air conditioner heat sink fins changes from traditional stretching to thinning stretching (high-speed thin-walling), the thickness of aluminum foil tends to be thinner, from the current 0.095mm to 0.09mm-0.08mm.
  • (2) The application ratio of hydrophilic aluminum foil will increase; hydrophilic foil is an aluminum foil with an anti-corrosion inorganic coating and a hydrophilic organic coating on the surface, and it has the functions of anti-corrosion, anti-mildew, and no odor. It is mainly used in radiators (mainly used in air conditioners, and also in some capacitors, etc.). Good formability and no wear on the mold; strong stamping resistance, solvent resistance, and heat resistance: small air flow positive force, the heat exchange rate can generally be increased by 10%-15% compared with light foil, and the heat sink can reduce wind resistance, reduce noise, reduce energy consumption, and extend service life. Therefore, the proportion of hydrophilic aluminum foil in the total amount of air conditioner aluminum foil will increase, and it is expected to reach 80% by 2010.
  • (3) The varieties of hydrophilic aluminum foil will be further refined: In order to meet the market segmentation requirements of household air conditioners, highly corrosion-resistant hydrophilic aluminum foil, antibacterial hydrophilic aluminum foil, super hydrophilic aluminum foil, and nano-organic hydrophilic aluminum foil will be industrialized.
  • (4) The mandatory improvement of air conditioning refrigeration efficiency promotes the increase in the consumption of aluminum foil for air conditioners.

Automotive brazing composite aluminum foil

The performance quality of needle-welded composite aluminum foil is reflected in excellent surface quality, precise size, flat plate shape, uniform alloy structure, good forming performance, uniform coating layer, good weldability, and further improvement of its heat resistance, collapse resistance and weldability. The lightweight of automobiles has led to an increase in the aluminumization rate, and aluminum foil for radiators of cars and light vehicles will replace copper foil. The market for brazing composite aluminum foil for automotive heat exchangers is a growing market and will develop faster than other aluminum foil varieties.

Thermal insulation aluminum foil products

Thermal insulation aluminum foil products will be the fastest growing variety of aluminum foil for construction: Under the situation of increasingly tight energy, more energy-saving building materials are needed. Using thermal insulation materials in the construction industry to achieve energy saving is the cheapest and fastest way.

Japan uses aluminum foil corrugated paperboard, aluminum foil mineral wool board, and aluminum foil polyethylene film frame board for building insulation of factories, houses, and livestock fences.

France uses aluminum foil asbestos corrugated board and aluminum foil foam sandwich board to make roof insulation and sound-absorbing materials.

Russia uses aluminum foil composite insulation materials for wall, roof and floor insulation.
